On January 8, country singer Joni Morris performed a tribute to legendary songbird Patsy Cline. The event was held at the High Desert Center for Spiritual Living (HDCSL) in Apple Valley.
With songs like “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” and “Sweet Dreams,” all classic tunes by the late entertainer, Morris captured the hearts of the music lovers in attendance.
Morris hails from Stockton, California and has been singing Cline’s hits on stage for over 25 years.
The event also included a performance by the band, After Midnight as part of this evening of song, stories and homespun comedy.
Morris wore dazzling costumes and shared own special brand of comedy with the audience, hoping that the audience could get to know her personally. She performs at large concert venues, casinos and private events throughout the U.S., presenting Cline’s music in a way that honors the late artist.
Upland-based singer/songwriter/author Lawton Jiles also performed several songs and told stories from his new book, “The Birth of the Bakersfield Sound.” Jiles started out his music career in Buck Owens’ band, and co-wrote several of Cline’s songs.
This is just one tribute artist to perform in a series of concerts being held at HDCSL, following a John Denver tribute held in September with artist Tom Becker. The popular events have been a sell-out and are creating a demand for more high-quality entertainment, according to HDCSL Rev. Valerie Reeves.
HDCSL offers many educational opportunities for life improvement. The center is located at 18575 Corwin Road, Apple Valley. For more information, call (760) 242-2302, or visit www.hdcsl.com
