Social-Lites Do The Conga

The Terrace Room was converted to a disco conga line full of ladies dressed in various era’s as the Social-Lites had a karaoke/ lip sync night of fun. Barbara Jean brought her portable musical studio for us ladies to pretend we were rock stars for one night. She also started a conga line around the room to loosen the ladies up before they stepped into the spotlight. That was all that was needed as everyone was up singing and dancing the rest of the night. Prizes were offered for anyone dressing up in their song of choice era. Plan to join us, Thursday, October 15th, in the Terrace Room of the Inn for a special “Christmas in October” Event! For those who love Christmas and everything about it, except…the buying of gifts; the wrapping of the gifts; the making of the cookies; writing of the cards: hanging the outdoor lights. Join us and get in the early Christmas spirit without all the fuss plus a whole lot of fun! Nancy Oswald and Ruby Roselli will demonstrate how to design a beautiful holiday banner to give as a cherished gift during the holiday season or as a hostess gift or for decorating your home indoors or even your front door. Each banner will be distinctly unique and can be monogrammed. The chef will also provide delicious holiday treats! Nancy and Ruby have each promised you need not be a crafty gal to create your “master piece”. Come and enjoy each other’s creations, Chef’s yummy appetizers, chatting with friends and the thrill of sharing your own artsy talent with us! Everything necessary to design your creations will be supplied. The cost is $15 to cover our $8 appetizers and $7 for all supplies. Your RSVP and payment is due to Lacey by Thursday, October 8th. The drop off address is 14625 Coolglen Drive. The mailing address is P. O. Box #429. Lacey Jones at 760-245-8048 or send her an email at TXladyBG@aol.com

Twice Dueling

Silver Lakes was once again entertained by the always funny and extremely talented ‘Dueling Pianos Anywhere’. The theme was Hawaiian so many were dressed in their casual attire but a few couldn’t resist a night to dress up ( me being one). Even though the crowd was smaller it did not stop a group of ladies grabbing some gentlemen and hitting the dance floor. The two pianists are just incredible with their Billy Joel, Elton John and Journey just to name a few. The food was delightful as the chicken was tender and the dessert melted in your mouth. Once again the Silver Lakes Restaurant did a great job.

Go War Eagles

Our first Friday Night Lights gathered over 500 enthusiastic fans to cheer on our first football team, The War Eagles. Although we did not win the team remained united and strong. The night before the team and cheerleaders held a pre rally for the community to come and meet and talk to the coaches and players. Even though it was over 100 degrees, parents, students, teachers and neighbors all gathered around to watch the War Eagles show they’re excitement and commitment to a successful season. Have to thank the Booster Club for selling drinks, snacks and barbeque. This past Friday was the War Eagles second home game and their third game ever to play. It was nice to see all the supporters wearing red to cheer the team on. Even though the score ended 0 to seventy something, the players kept tackling and running as the crowd cheered on. I overheard some negative comments about how bad we were losing and of course I had to say something that some may have forgotten. This is our very first football team. This is their third game ever! If we were playing another new team like our War Eagles it would be an even playing field and I would bet my lunch money that we would win! That being said the schools that we are playing against have had years of experience and I truly believe in a few years the scoreboard will be something to brag about. The War Eagles have stamina, confidence and are true warriors!

Craft Fair

Make sure you mark your calendar for the 18th Annual Silver Lakes Arts & Craft Fair October 17th at the Clubhouse. Last year I picked up so many unique items for holiday presents and maybe a few for myself too.
