Steve Orr New Chairman of V.V. Chamber

Steve Orr has served on the board since 2009 serving on the Victor Valley Chamber executive committee in offices as V.P. Financial Services, Membership & Community Services, and Business Enhancement. Recently, he was elected by his peers to serve as chairman for the fiscal year beginning July 1. He agreed to take on this responsibility. The board held a planning retreat at the Green Tree Golf Course Restaurant. They discussed plans for the coming year, and when asked if anything special was in the works, Orr said his goals are keeping the regional focus of the chamber as a priority, along with maintaining pride in the community. Steve takes the position of chairman very seriously, and said some great ideas for goals and objectives are percolating, and will be rolled out soon. Apart from new goals, they discussed some of the upcoming events that raise funds to support the chamber. Over the next few months the Chamber will host the Swig, Schmooze and Shank at Spring Valley Lake Country Club, the Kemper Campbell Ranch mixer, and the annual Roadrunner Classic golf tournament. Along with these events, the chamber will also provide a BBO (Business Builder Opportunity) Workshop and an Economic Enhancement Forum. Outside of the chamber, Steve is the Director of Business Development for Heritage Victor Valley Medical Group. Steve works directly under COO Merlin Aalborg, who has an extensive background in healthcare. Merlin is the driving force behind the fitness awareness programs being developed at Heritage. Steve keeps busy making connections with the business in the community to offer the great benefits Heritage has developed. Part of the job is community outreach, physician recruiting, and creating relationships between businesses and the medical group. Heritage Urgent Care has the unique status of being a high acuity urgent care facility, of which there are only 37 in the entire US and five in California, offering a very high level of services close to that of a hospital emergency room. As a way to bring more awareness to what Heritage does for the community, the company sponsors Mavericks baseball stadium’s “Heritage Field,” and the Apple Valley Summer Concert Series. Originally from San Gabriel Valley, Steve has lived in the Victor Valley since 1989, and worked in the healthcare industry since 1978.
