Dreamers Visionaries & Leaders Honorees Recognized

Black History Month was celebrated on February 7 by honoring 11 local citizens and two lifetime achievement honorees, Eloise Gibson and Colonel George Armstrong III, USAF (Ret). The 2015 Dreamers, Visionaries and Leaders Project ceremony was held at Victor Victor Valley College, with special guest, mistress of ceremonies, and actress Kim Fields, from shows like Facts of Life and Living Single, and a special performances throughout the event, including a rendition of Wind Beneath My Wings, by singer/acress Dawnn Lewis and music played by jazz saxophonist Vaughn Fahie. Honorees who received awards for their contributions to the local community were Bianca Johnson, J-Michael F. Yates, Gloria Roberts, Dr. Melda Gaskins, Joseph Moon, Lynette Ramirez, Ebony Phillips Purcell, M.Ed., and Cornelious “C.J.” Page Jr. Congressman Paul Cook, and County Supervisor Robert Lovingood presented the two lifetime achievement awards. Other presenters included Trevor Daley, State Director to Senator Dianne Feinstein, and radio personality Colleen Quinn, DVL scholarship coordinator Barbara Morrow Williams, PhD, and DVL Hispanic Heritage presenter Eric Camerena. Theresa Polley-Shellcroft presented the 2015 Victor Award to recipient Daniel Esclante. DVL Founder, Regina Weatherspoon-Bell spoke about the vision of the organization, and thanked many individuals before presenting an special award to Kim Fields.
