The Victorville Christmas Parade had a great turn-out this year, with over 1000 people lining 7th street to watch the entries go by to the sound of classic holiday music. Dwight Johnson of El Dorado Broadcasters was this year’s announcer.
This year’s theme was “A Christmas Morning,” and featured 80 groups including of a variety of themed floats from businesses and civic clubs, marching bands, scout troops, ROTC clubs, car clubs, dance schools, cheerleaders, karate classes, animal rescues, and many more participants.
A highlight for the young children was the rendition of “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?,” song from the movie Frozen, by A Dancer’s Pointe studio in Apple Valley .
Competing categories included Best Costume, Commercial Float, Civic Float, Wheels (Classic Car-Car Club-Antique Vehicles).
The winners were:
Costumes: 1st – Paw Prints Dog Club; wnd – Girl Scout Troop #166.
Civic Float: 1st – Brownie Scout Troop #822; 2nd – Boy Scouts of America Pack/Troop #257; 3rd – Victor Valley Animal Protective League.
Commercial Float: 1st – Allen’s Flowers; 2nd – Victor Valley Global Medical Center; 3rd-HS Dance Scene
Wheels-Club: 1st – Victor Valley 4 Wheelers T.A.S.K. Force; 2nd – Victor Valley British Car Club; 3rd – All N All Car Club
Wheels-Antique: 1st – High Desert Antique Power Association; 2nd – Early Day Tractor & Iron.
The parade ended with Santa (impersonated by Apple Valley Councilman Curt Emick) and Mrs. Claus (Becky Otwell of Shear Realty).
The City of Victorville sponsors the event annually, with the help of organizers the Kiwanis Club of Victorville and sponsor Victor Valley Global Medical Center, along with other local businesses.
