The 16th Annual Main Street USA Car Show was held on Main Street Route 66 in downtown Barstow on Saturday, September 13.
The Main Street USA run was created in 1999 by Wayne Soppland, and it is one of the few car shows held right on Route 66.
The show featured all vehicles regardless of year and dash plaques were given to all who registered.
There were raffle prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and lots of vendors offering many types of food, plus goodies like snow cones and kettle corn.
The night before the show, the Saturday Night Cruisers kicked off the event at Foster’s Freeze, then cruised to the 50s-style Skyline Drive-in movies on old Highway 58.
Saturday Night Cruisers club was founded in September 1992, with a desire to bring back cruising like in the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in cars who wanted to hang out and support the community.
They stand for expanding family values and community activities. Proceeds are donated to charity.
In 2009, the club became a sanctioned member of the High Desert Car Club Council, which is located at Kramer Junction.
