The ribbon was cut in February, and now on the Victorville Old Town Route 66 Historic Society is hosting a grand opening celebration for its new information center and mini-museum on July 9.
The organization’s purpose is to preserve the history of Victorville and surrounding areas, and promote the redevelopment and economic growth of Old Town Victorville.
Local residents and tourists alike get a taste of local history. Memorabilia on site includes posters, old photos, historical displays of mining, railroads, western lifestyle, Route 66 era, school, business, toys, records, tools, along with Roy and Dale.
You may want to become a member or a volunteer docent.
The open house is Wednesday, July 9 at 4:00 p.m., located at 15492A 7th Street, Victorville. Call (760) 885-9369 for info.
Another upcoming event is the California Route 66 Museum’s all-day bus tour to the Gene Autry Museum planned for mid-July.
