Entertainer Rex Allen Headlines Friends of Happy Trails Banquet

The Town of Apple Valley proclaimed May 17 to be Happy Trails Day during the Friends of Happy Trails Banquet, held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Victorville on that date.
Entertainment featured Rex Allen, Jr., a singer/songwriter who was inducted into the Western Music Hall of Fame in 2008.

Veteran charactor actor Cliff Emmich was the guest auctioneer this year.

This was the 4th annual Happy Trails dinner party, and as always it was full of fun, food, games, prizes, raffles, auctions, guns and collectibles. A major portion of revenue comes from opportunity drawings, live and silent auctions.

The dinner is also a donor appreciation night, and several groups were present to give checks to the organization, including the Double R Bar Regulators and Lucerne Valley Lions Club, which together gave $6000 to the charity. Also, the Helendale Community Services District gave a check for $1200.

Other special events are held throughout the year, including The Breakfast Club, Curly’s Cowboy Christmas, and a shooting fun fair.

The Happy Trails Childrens Foundation operates the Cooper Home for boys who are victims of child abuse. They stay an average of 12 to 18 months, going through an intensive program of group and individual therapy. The program is helping, because these youth are not showing back up in the system.

The foundation receives public support from Roy Rogers and Dale Evans fans all across the country and around the world. It is also supported by generous contributions from Single Action Shooting Society members and other shooters, collectors, organized shooting sports and the firearms industry. We also publish an annual newsletter that is sent to our donors and we hold special events that raise funds for the foundation throughout the year – such as The Breakfast Club, the FRIENDS OF HAPPY TRAILS BANQUET, and Curly’s Cowboy Christmas dinner and show among others!
The Happy Trails Children’s Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization under the Internal Revenue Code, Section 501 (c)(3), run by a volunteer Board of Directors and a paid and volunteer staff. All donations are fully tax deductable to the extent allowed by law.
