Victor Valley College was the scene on May 3 for the 41st annual Cinco de Mayo festival, featuring a variety of music, dance, and other entertainment on two big stages.
Put on by the High Desert Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the family festival honors Mexican culture, Native American, and Aztec influences in the local community.
Mariachi music, Latin bands, Aztec and folklorico dancers,, sports demonstrations, vendors, a salsa competition, kids zone with face painting and bouncers, and more than 50 food, craft and business vendors made this the best year yet.
Some of the acts included the VVC Dancers, Danza Azteca, Coatlaxupe, Mariachi Aguila Real, Flores Del Desierto, and Latin Express.
The chamber’s goal is to connect the Hispanic and non-Hispanic communies so they can do business together. A portion of proceeds from the event benefit scholarships for Victor Valley College students.
