Crochet Group – Every other Wednesday, a cheerful bunch of women show up at Heritage Victor Valley Medical Group’s conference room armed with crochet hooks!
These ladies (and sometimes men), are creating some beautiful lap blankets which will be donated to those in need. Sometime before the holidays, they plan to make a trip to the High Desert Homeless Services shelter to give the blankets away.
All yarn is bought and donated by Heritage. It takes about 20 hours to finish one afghan, depending on the design and difficulty. The group is also making hats and other small items.
Woodworking is another activity that many seniors enjoy doing. They have made photo frames, bird houses and other items.
Heritage has other activities to choose from, hoping to find something for everyone to enjoy.
There are chair and aerobic exercise, karaoke and a card club. Or maybe you like scrapbooking, jewelry-making, learning computer basics, cooking, or making a variety of craft items.
Koffee Klub – Zonk! That’s what you’ll hear if you visit Heritage Victor Valley Medical Group on a Monday morning. That’s because the Koffee Klub meets then, enjoying friendships and smiles, while playing games like Zonk, a fun dice game.
And, of course there’s coffee, plus fruit and snacks. Participants bring “white elephant” gifts to enter in the free doorprize giveaway.
Are you dealing with an illness or taking care of someone who is? Heritage also offers support groups for all kinds of illnesses and concerns. Get support for heart disease, diabetes, chronic illness, respiratory, bereavement, arthritis, memory, quit smoking, and caregivers.
The Koffee Klub meets every Monday morning and two Fridays per month from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Heritage Conference Center at 12370 Hesperia Road, Victorville.
