Hesperia Pet Walk Raising Funds for Animal Rescue

pet-walk-2It was all about dogs at 1st Annual Pet Walk, held at Hesperia Civic Plaza Park. The public made it a big success by coming out and walking laps around the Civic Park Plaza. Those who raised $50 or more received a free T-shirt.

There were contests, vendors of pet- friendly products, and a pet adoption fair. The June 1 event was sponsored by Rotary Club of Hesperia, Y102, Kat Country, 106.5 The Fox and Hesperia Recreation & Park District.

Proceeds benefit the Rotary Club to fund pet adoptions for seniors, spay/ neuter programs for pets of low income families, scholarships and other local community programs.

From June 1 to August 31, the City of Hesperia Animal Shelter is partici- pating in the Rachel Ray $100,000 ASPCA Shelter Challenge, going to the shelter that has the greatest increase in adopted animals during that period. The Hesperia Shelter has set a goal of adopting 1300 animals in 13 weeks.
